Karina wavy Turkey Travertine

Karina wavy Turkey Travertine Description

I have read here that most Travertine's are NOT as pourous as we are told to believe. (I guess to sell the not needed Sealants) I have read some of the free articles on this site.

Are the Turkey Travertines of good quality?

This Travertine is 18" x 18" honed and (http://maplered.com) filled, not polished.

I have had 3 different contractors give me installation bids, but, none have said a barrier is needed between my concrete slab and (http://maplered.com) the Travertine.

I have not read that a barrier is needed on this site, but, did read that on a different site.

Is this true or false?

I have also read the importance of a level floor.

using a level on the slab floor,

What is considered OK?

As long as the bubble on the level stays within the two marks?

I have a spot where the bubble is on the inside edge of the two lines, but, the contractors said this is OK.  The Mortar will fix that.

What type of Mortar is best for Travertine?

The store suggested a Mortar with Silcone in it.

Thank you for your help.
This site is very good source of information.
